Associations await ruling on swipe fee settlement A federal judge will likely announce tomorrow whether his court will accept a proposed $7.25 billion legal settlement concerning credit card swipe fees, and many associations are eagerly awaiting his ruling. U.S. District Judge John Gleeson in New York City has set Sept. 12 as the deadline for a decision on whether to approve the settlement. At issue is a 2005 lawsuit brought by several retailers against Visa, MasterCard and several large banks over the fees they charge for credit card purchases.
